1. Royal Monastery Library of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain
The Royal Monastery Library of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is located in a historical residence of the King of Spain, in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which lies about 45 kilometers from Madrid. The library has a hall 54 meters long, 9 meters wide and 10 meters tall, with beautiful marble floors and carved wooden shelves. The ceiling is decorated with frescoes depicting the seven liberal arts: Rhetoric, Dialectic, Music, Grammar, Arithmetic, Geometry, and Astronomy. This library contains a collection of more than 40,000 historical volumes.
